The meeting of the Supreme Planning Council of the Civil Administration, which was scheduled to convene next week and approve the construction of thousands of housing units in Judea and Samaria, was postponed for another few weeks.
The reason for the postponement is the UN General Assembly, which will be held before the High Holidays, and will be attended by Prime Minister Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
According to Channel 2, Israel did not want to "arm" Abbas before his visit to the United States and his speech at the UN, so it was decided to postpone the committee's meeting.
What will come up in the committee when it convenes is a series of plans: 700 housing units in Ariel, 260 in Tzufim in Samaria, 97 in Rahelim in Samaria, 86 in Migron in Binyamin, 192 in Negohot in the South Hevron Hills, and more. In total, approximately 3,000 housing units will be submitted for approval in Judea and Samaria.
Yesterday, the defense minister boasted of the thousands of building permits he gave in the last 15 months since taking office, and said that since 2000 there has been “no such momentum” in building in Judea and Samaria.
"Since the beginning of 2017, 1,400 housing units have been approved for marketing, and another 3,400 have been approved for planning procedures. In addition, there are another 7,000 housing units slated for planning, " Liberman told reporters.
